Dear colleagues!

I welcome the participants of the IX BRICS Competition Conference, which will be held in Cape Town on September 9-12, 2025. With the accession of South Africa as a member state in 2010, the name of the association was established in the form of the abbreviation BRICS. Over the past 15 years, the organization has grown significantly due to the joining of new members and the establishment of the status of BRICS “partner countries”, attracting those countries that share its fundamental principles and strive for equal partnership for the sake of common development. This has become a clear indication of the growing statusof BRICS and its role in the international arena.

Our main goal is to promote the best development of a procompetitive, balanced, and dynamic economy, and competition policy, as its driver, is increasingly coming as a tool for achieving this goal.

The BRICS Competition Conference is a significant event in the business life of the international competition community, which this year is being held in an expanded format for the first time, and today represents not just a platform for “diagnosing” existing problems in the field of competition protection, but a platform for discussing ways to solve them, forming a global agenda capable of responding to the challenges of the current economic realities and achieving practical results.

I am convinced that the Conference will contribute to increasing cooperation between BRICS competition authorities, strengthening the existing friendly relations between our countries. The results of the discussions will contribute to achieving specific practical goals aimed at forming a healthy, procompetitive environment in the BRICS markets for the benefit of consumers in our countries.
